Abhayam 2025

Abhayam 2025 was held on June 8 at the Y’s Men’s Club Auditorium, Ponkunnam, bringing together scholars, activists, artists, and well-wishers for a day of reflection and cultural engagement. The annual memorial lecture was delivered by social activist and thinker R. Parvathi Devi on the theme “Life of Women in the Neo-Fascist Era.” The programme also featured the play Koladu, a screening of the short film Veeduchumattukar (The People Who Carry Houses in Their Head), and the release of the annual publication Abhayam 2025. The renovated library at Janakeeya Vayanasala was also inaugurated during the event.

2025 ജൂൺ 8-ന് പൊൻകുന്നം വൈഎംസി ഓഡിറ്റോറിയത്തിൽ സംഘടിപ്പിച്ച ‘അഭയം 2025’ സാമൂഹിക-സാംസ്‌കാരിക ചർച്ചകൾക്കും കലാപരിപാടികൾക്കും വേദിയായി. ‘നവ ഫാസിസ്റ്റ് കാലത്തെ സ്ത്രീജീവിതം’ എന്ന വിഷയത്തിൽ ആർ. പാർവതി ദേവി അഭയൻ സ്മാരക പ്രഭാഷണം നടത്തി. തുടർന്ന് കോലാട് നാടകം, വീട്ടുചുമട്ടുകാർ ഹ്രസ്വചിത്രം, വാർഷിക പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണമായ അഭയം 2025ന്റെ പ്രകാശനം എന്നിവ നടന്നു. അഭയന്റെ സഹപാഠികൾ മുൻകൈയ്യെടുത്തു നവീകരിച്ച ജനകീയ വായനശാല ലൈബ്രറിയുടെ ഉദ്ഘാടനവും പരിപാടിയുടെ ഭാഗമായി നടന്നു.

Abhayam 2024
Abhayam 2024 was organised on June 23 at the Y’s Men’s Club Auditorium, Ponkunnam. Historian Dr. Sebastian Joseph delivered the Abhayan Memorial Lecture on “The Aesthetics of Colonial Hegemony and Malayalee’s Cartographic Politics.” The programme included a theatrical adaptation of Kumaranasan’s Chandalabhikshuki by Rangayavvanam and the release of the annual publication Abhayam 2024. The gathering concluded with an informal meeting of Abhayan’s friends and family.

2024 ജൂൺ 23-ന് പൊൻകുന്നം വൈഎംസി ഓഡിറ്റോറിയത്തിൽ ‘അഭയം 2024’ സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചു. ‘കൊളോണിയൽ മേൽക്കോയ്മയുടെ സൗന്ദര്യശാസ്ത്രവും മലയാളിയുടെ ഭൂപട രാഷ്ട്രീയവും’ എന്ന വിഷയത്തിൽ ഡോ. സെബാസ്റ്റ്യൻ ജോസഫ് സ്മാരക പ്രഭാഷണം നടത്തി. കുമാരനാശാന്റെ ചണ്ഡാലഭിക്ഷുകി ആസ്പദമാക്കിയ നാടകാവതരണവും വാർഷിക പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണമായ അഭയം 2024ന്റെ പ്രകാശനവും പരിപാടിയുടെ ഭാഗമായി നടന്നു.

Abhayam 2023
Abhayam 2023 marked ten years since the passing of cultural activist Abhayan. Held on June 4 at Vyapara Bhavan Auditorium, the event featured the memorial lecture by Dr. Sumangala Damodaran on “Culture in Politics, Culture as Politics.” A musical and dance performance titled Unarvvum Ushassum by Rangayavvanam added cultural depth to the gathering. The annual publication Abhayam 2023 was also released during the event.

അഭയൻ വിടവാങ്ങിയതിന് പത്ത് വർഷം തികയുന്ന വേളയിൽ 2023 ജൂൺ 4-ന് വ്യാപാരഭവൻ ഓഡിറ്റോറിയത്തിൽ ‘അഭയം 2023’ സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചു. ‘രാഷ്ട്രീയത്തിലെ സംസ്കാരവും സംസ്കാരമായ രാഷ്ട്രീയം’ എന്ന വിഷയത്തിൽ ഡോ. സുമംഗല ദാമോദരൻ സ്മാരക പ്രഭാഷണം നടത്തി. രംഗയൗവ്വനം അവതരിപ്പിച്ച ഉണർവും ഉഷസ്സും എന്ന സംഗീത-നൃത്താവതരണവും വാർഷിക പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണമായ അഭയം 2023ന്റെ പ്രകാശനവും പരിപാടിയുടെ ഭാഗമായി നടന്നു.

Abhayam 2022
Abhayam 2022 was held on May 29 at the V.J. Joseph Memorial Hall, Janakeeya Vayanasala. The programme opened with a solo painting exhibition by Anjali Sasi. Economist Dr. Thomas Isaac delivered the memorial lecture on “30 Years of Neo-Liberalism.” The annual publication Abhayam 2022 was released during the gathering, which concluded with discussions and community interaction.

2022 മേയ് 29-ന് ജനകീയ വായനശാലയിലെ വി.ജെ. ജോസഫ് സ്മാരക ഹാളിൽ ‘അഭയം 2022’ നടന്നു. അഞ്ജലി ശശിയുടെ ചിത്രപ്രദർശനത്തോടെയാണ് പരിപാടികൾ ആരംഭിച്ചത്. ‘നവ ഉദാരവൽക്കരണത്തിന്റെ 30 വർഷങ്ങൾ’ എന്ന വിഷയത്തിൽ ഡോ. തോമസ് ഐസക് സ്മാരക പ്രഭാഷണം നടത്തി. വാർഷിക പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണമായ അഭയം 2022 പ്രകാശനം ചെയ്യുകയും സംവാദങ്ങളോടെ പരിപാടി സമാപിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

Abhayam 2020 & 2021
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 edition of 'Abhayam' was organized online as a virtual get-together for friends. Subsequently, the 2021 event was also held virtually, where P. Krishnaprasad, Finance Secretary of the All India Kisan Sabha, delivered a lecture on the topic 'Worker-Peasant Struggles in the Context of COVID-19

കോവിഡ് മഹാമാരിയുടെ പശ്ചാത്തലത്തിൽ 2020-ൽ 'അഭയം' ഓൺലൈനിൽ സുഹൃത്തുക്കളുടെ കൂടിച്ചേരൽ എന്ന നിലയിലാണ് സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചത്. തുടർന്ന്. 2021-ലും ഓൺലൈനായി നടന്ന ചടങ്ങിൽ അഖിലേന്ത്യാ കിസാൻ സഭ ഫിനാൻസ് സെക്രട്ടറി പി. കൃഷ്ണപ്രസാദ് 'കോവിഡ് പശ്ചാത്തലത്തിലെ തൊഴിലാളി-കർഷക പോരാട്ടങ്ങൾ' എന്ന വിഷയത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് പ്രഭാഷണം നടത്തി.

Abhayam 2019
Abhayam 2019 was conducted on May 25 and 26 at SDUP School Hall, Ponkunnam. The programme included exhibitions, discussions, cultural performances, and the memorial lecture by Dr K.N. Harilal on contemporary socio-political activism. Awards were distributed to winners of the Abhayan Smaraka Vayanotsavam, and several organisations presented alternative social initiatives and experiences.

2019 മേയ് 25, 26 തീയതികളിൽ പൊൻകുന്നം എസ്.ഡി.യു.പി സ്കൂൾ ഹാളിൽ ‘അഭയം 2019’ സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചു. ചർച്ചകൾ, കലാപരിപാടികൾ, ചിത്രപ്രദർശനങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയ്ക്കൊപ്പം ഡോ. കെ.എൻ. ഹരിലാൽ സ്മാരക പ്രഭാഷണം നടത്തി. ‘അഭയൻ സ്മാരക വായനോത്സവം’ വിജയികൾക്ക് പുരസ്കാരങ്ങൾ വിതരണം ചെയ്യുകയും വിവിധ സംഘടനകൾ ബദൽ സാമൂഹിക പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള അവതരണങ്ങൾ നടത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു.

Abhayam 2018
Abhayam 2018 was held on May 27 at SDUP School Hall, Ponkunnam. The event featured exhibitions, discussions on alternative agricultural models, and the memorial lecture by activist Dr. Viju Krishnan on the Farmer’s Long March. Young achievers and reading competition winners were honoured, followed by music and cultural programmes.

2018 മേയ് 27-ന് പൊൻകുന്നം എസ്.ഡി.യു.പി സ്കൂൾ ഹാളിൽ ‘അഭയം 2018’ നടന്നു. ‘കർഷക ലോങ് മാർച്ച്’ വിഷയത്തിൽ ഡോ. വിജു കൃഷ്ണൻ സ്മാരക പ്രഭാഷണം നടത്തി. കാർഷിക മേഖലയിലെ ബദൽ മാതൃകകളെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ചർച്ചകളും കലാപരിപാടികളും വായനാമത്സര വിജയികൾക്ക് പുരസ്കാര വിതരണവും പരിപാടിയുടെ ഭാഗമായി നടന്നു.

Abhayam 2017 was organised on May 27 and 28 at SDUP School Hall, Ponkunnam. The event included exhibitions, cultural programmes, and the memorial lecture by Dr. Anil Chelabra on politics in everyday life. Poetry collections published by ASK were also released during the gathering.

2017 മേയ് 27, 28 തീയതികളിൽ പൊൻകുന്നം എസ്.ഡി.യു.പി സ്കൂൾ ഹാളിൽ ‘അഭയം 2017’ സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചു. പ്രദർശനങ്ങൾ, കലാപരിപാടികൾ, വായനോത്സവ പുരസ്കാരവിതരണം എന്നിവയ്ക്കൊപ്പം ഡോ. അനിൽ ചേലമ്പ്ര സ്മാരക പ്രഭാഷണം നടത്തി. ASK പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച കവിതാസമാഹാരങ്ങളുടെ പ്രകാശനവും നടന്നു.

Abhayam 2016
Abhayam 2016 was held on June 11 and 12 at Vyapara Bhavan Auditorium, Ponkunnam. Dr. Sunil P. Ilayidom delivered the annual memorial lecture on cultural resistance against right-wing politics. The programme also included seminars on media and society, discussions on the future of ASK, and cultural performances including a veena concert.

2016 ജൂൺ 11, 12 തീയതികളിൽ പൊൻകുന്നം വ്യാപാരഭവൻ ഓഡിറ്റോറിയത്തിൽ ‘അഭയം 2016’ നടന്നു. ‘സാംസ്‌കാരിക വലതുപക്ഷത്തിനെതിരായ പോരാട്ടത്തിന്റെ പ്രസക്തി’ എന്ന വിഷയത്തിൽ ഡോ. സുനിൽ പി. ഇളയിടം സ്മാരക പ്രഭാഷണം നടത്തി. മാധ്യമങ്ങളും സമൂഹവും സംബന്ധിച്ച സെമിനാറുകൾ, ASKയുടെ ഭാവി പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ചർച്ചകൾ, വീണക്കച്ചേരി ഉൾപ്പെടെയുള്ള കലാപരിപാടികൾ എന്നിവയും സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചു.

Abhayam 2015
Abhayam 2015, the second annual gathering of ASK, was held on June 13 and 14 at Swades Residence, Ponkunnam. Historian Dr. Rajan Gurukkal delivered the memorial lecture on “Dangers of History.” The event featured exhibitions, seminars, music and dance performances, along with discussions on the future activities and direction of ASK.

2015 ജൂൺ 13, 14 തീയതികളിൽ പൊൻകുന്നം സ്വദേശ് റെസിഡൻസിൽ ‘അഭയം 2015’ സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചു. ‘ചരിത്രം നേരിടുന്ന അപകടങ്ങൾ’ എന്ന വിഷയത്തിൽ ഡോ. രാജൻ ഗുരുക്കൾ സ്മാരക പ്രഭാഷണം നടത്തി. ചിത്രപ്രദർശനങ്ങൾ, സെമിനാറുകൾ, സംഗീത-നൃത്ത പരിപാടികൾ, ASKയുടെ ഭാവി പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ചർച്ചകൾ എന്നിവ പരിപാടിയുടെ ഭാഗമായി നടന്നു.

Abhayam 2014
Abhayam 2014 was the first commemorative gathering organised by the newly formed Abhayan Smaraka Kendram (ASK). Held on June 14 and 15 at Leela Mahal Auditorium, Ponkunnam, the event established a space for intellectual exchange and cultural remembrance. The inaugural memorial lecture was delivered by economist Dr. Prabhat Patnaik, followed by seminars, presentations on alternative practices, and cultural performances by friends and comrades of Abhayan.

അഭയൻ സ്മാരക കേന്ദ്രം രൂപീകരിച്ചതിന് ശേഷമുള്ള ആദ്യ വാർഷിക സംഗമമായ ‘അഭയം 2014’ 2014 ജൂൺ 14, 15 തീയതികളിൽ പൊൻകുന്നം ലീല മഹൽ ഓഡിറ്റോറിയത്തിൽ നടന്നു. ഡോ. പ്രഭാത് പട്നായിക് ആദ്യ സ്മാരക പ്രഭാഷണം നടത്തി. വിവിധ മേഖലകളിലെ ബദൽ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള അവതരണങ്ങൾ, സെമിനാറുകൾ, സുഹൃത്തുക്കളുടെയും സഹപ്രവർത്തകരുടെയും കലാപരിപാടികൾ എന്നിവയിലൂടെ പരിപാടി ശ്രദ്ധേയമായി.
